As a week has passed since we attended the Liverpool City Region’s Tourism Awards at Liverpool Cathedral, it has been great to reflect on the wonderful evening – and the success stories on show from across the region.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about instability and confusion in all sectors across the last two years, there is no sector that has been hit harder than tourism and hospitality. Influential is passionate about supporting and championing businesses in the LCR and was fortunate enough to sponsor the ‘Independent Tourism Business Award’ at the awards ceremony.
The event was a fantastic occasion, taking place at the prestigious Liverpool Cathedral. It was wonderful to have an in-person awards ceremony where the finalists for the award could attend, with Consumer PR Director Jane Woodhead on hand to present the award!
The shortlisted finalists for the ‘Independent Tourism Business Award’ were all very worthy candidates.
Finalists covered a wide range of industries – from historic playhouses to creative cafes – evidencing the wide offering of the region in attracting tourists to the LCR.
Finalists included The Everyman Theatre which aims to improve and promote artistic and cultural education. The historic playhouse aims to create impactful productions which can bring about social change, through dance, theatre, music and more.
Liverpool Food Walking Tours offers tours of the historic Merseyside city with a twist. As one of the world’s leading Beatles Tour Companies, Fab 4 Taxi Tours provides memorable and authentic tour experiences for their customers, giving them unique insights into four of the city’s most famous sons.
Another business utilising the unquestionable pull of the Beatles to the LCR is Liverpool Beatles Museum. Boasting a collection of 1000 rare and authentic items across five floors on Mathew Street, the museum is the largest Beatles collection in the world.
MerseyMade empowers artists and creatives from the LCR, allowing them to sell their products, while also running as a café. Situated in a Grade II listed building, MerseyMade is the perfect place to relax and unwind, as well as support local talent.
Duke Street Food and Drink Market provides a unique social eating and drinking experience in the historic warehouse on Duke Street. The site offers a space for other local food vendors, offering cuisines from Italy, South America and Mexico as well as a new terrace space, specialist wine and coffee kiosk and multiple bars.
The winner on the evening was Shiverpool. Famed for its ghost tours, the winner of Influential’s sponsored award offers its audience a unique experience to reveal some of the LCR’s historic stories. Shiverpool provides an escape from modern life, all while dynamically exploring Liverpool’s heritage.
The entire category – and evening as a whole – was a terrific opportunity to celebrate LCR’s success stories over the last year. Influential’s sponsorship is just the tip of the iceberg in a city region which has a thriving hospitality and tourism industry.
