Influential unveils creative brand campaign to end smoking in Cheshire and Merseyside

In a bold move to combat the devastating impact of smoking, Champs Public Health Collaborative, along with NHS Cheshire and Merseyside, has unveiled a campaign aimed at making Cheshire and Merseyside smoke-free by 2030.

Backed by creative branding from integrated marketing agency Influential, the new campaign aims to drive lasting change across the region.

Launched in conjunction with National No Smoking Day, the “Smoking Ends Here” campaign provides essential support and guidance to smokers across the region, encouraging them to adopt a healthier, smoke-free lifestyle.

This groundbreaking initiative is the first time all nine local authorities in Cheshire and Merseyside and NHS Cheshire and Merseyside, have joined forces to create a unified brand on smoking cessation, directly targeting residents across the entire region.

Influential was appointed to lead the campaign’s branding and website development following a competitive tendering process.

The agency conducted extensive focus groups with smokers to better understand the obstacles they face when attempting to quit. Through this in-depth research, Influential was able to test a variety of messages, identifying the most effective ways to engage the target audience.

Using these insights, they created a digital campaign featuring animation and video content which will be hosted across Meta, YouTube, and Digital Display advertising.

Influential also created custom assets for use in healthcare settings, including GPs’ offices, hospitals, and pharmacy screens, to further extend the campaign’s visibility and reach.

The campaign drives audiences back to a dedicated website, which shares real-life stories from those who have successfully quit smoking, along with a wealth of resources, providing practical tools and support to help others take the first step toward a smoke-free future.

Karen Swan, Director at Influential, said: “We’re extremely proud to be part of a campaign with such an important goal – making Cheshire and Merseyside smoke-free by 2030.

“Our focus groups provided invaluable insights into the challenges smokers face, allowing us to create a campaign that truly resonates with the community. By using this research to shape the creative, we’ve developed a campaign that offers support, encouragement, and real potential for change across the region.”

Tracey Lambert, Head of Communications from the Champs Public Health Collaborative said: “We are excited to launch the ‘Smoking Ends Here’ campaign, a pivotal step towards a healthier future for Cheshire and Merseyside.

We’re thrilled to partner with Influential to bring this campaign to life. Together, we are not just providing resources; we are inspiring a movement that empowers individuals to reclaim their health and embrace a smoke-free lifestyle.”
