Behaviour change in action

Our challenge

We teamed up with the Cheshire and Merseyside Public Health Collaborative to reduce the spread of winter illness. We knew advice alone wouldn’t stick, so we needed a strategy to make people rethink their handwashing habits.  

The insight

Our research revealed that, despite knowing the benefits, people lacked motivation to maintain hygiene once Covid fears subsided.  

Our solution

To spark motivation, we set out to show the invisible germs we encounter daily and how easily bacteria spreads.  

Swabbing high-touch surfaces, we uncovered harmful microbes, including traces of E. coli. We used these shocking findings to launch a high-impact PR and digital campaign. 

The results

We staged roadshows at nine high-footfall locations, secured strong national TV and media coverage and ran digital campaigns across TikTok, Meta, Display, and YouTube, which generated 4.9 million impressions. 

84% of people who saw our campaign increased their handwashing or surface sanitising.
