Brief

IHG’s Holiday Inn brand is known and loved all around the world. So, where better to open a brand-new 4-star hotel than in the UK’s most loved seaside resort, Blackpool?

Challenge

To coincide with the £350m town centre regeneration scheme, we had one shot of launching the hotel to locals and travellers alike and ensuring it was the start of a new and exciting chapter for Blackpool.

Blackpool is one of the most fun and friendly towns, where everyone is welcome, so we needed to launch the hotel in a way that put that message front and centre.

Through PR, organic social media and a launch only Blackpool could get away with, we opened our doors with a bang!

In the weeks leading up to the opening, we kicked off the hotel’s social media accounts, sold in first looks and invited key stakeholders in for hard hat tours.

For launch day, we went all out. Who better to open Blackpool’s newest Holiday Inn hotel than Coronation Street legend, Jack P Shepherd?

We also invited media, local micro influencers, stilt walkers and a living Champagne tree (aka a hostess dressed in a hoop skirt centrepiece filled with glasses of fizz) to help us cut the ribbon.

Results

Through PR, organic social media and a one-of a-kind opening day the hotel is now fully booked across the 2024 season.

Our social media followers organically grew from zero to 1,500 and we successfully engaged with influencers ranging from 30k+ to over 100,000, collaborating with them to grow our brand awareness across the UK.
